I am sure many of you use basil, garlic and oregano but do you use ginger or cumin or tumeric?
I am sure that you also use pepper, like black pepper in a grinder or cayenne and chili flakes or chili powder but have you use white pepper or black salt?
Have you ever heard of Gomasio? it comes in a shaker jar... and it has sea salt and ground sesame seeds in it and I even have a seaweeds and sesame seed Gomasio. I use it on asian dishes or stir fry.
Have you heard of Herbamare...it's a healthier alternative to table salt.
NOW let's talk peanut butter or nut butters.... I don't use Peanut butter anymore..I use almond butter ( it doesn't spread smooth on bread- but sunflower butter does) I also use sunbutter. I use a lot of raw pumpking sees which should be green and raw sunflower seeds to make energy balls ( snacks for the car) and I also put the seeds in my salad or on my steel cut oatmeal or my quinoa.
Sweetners can be controversial- I don't use anything but the following:
Raw agave nectar
barley malt
brown rice syrup
honey
maple syrup
stevia
What do you use?
Oils can also be very controversial... ENGINE 2 diet believes in NO oils... and there reasons are very sound. I do use a little coconut oil and sesame oil - very little olive oil .
Vinegars
many people don't use vinegar enough and if they do it's usually white vinegar.
I use apple cider vinegar
Balsamic vinegar
red wine vinegar
and my favorite umeboshi (plum) vinegar
My favorite sauces are:
Bragg's amino acid ( like a soy sauce)
olive paste
miso paste
pesto
tamari soy sauce
tahini which looks like a thick peanut butter but can be put on noodles like a peanut sauce or be used on veggies like broccoli and or red peppers during detox.
Sea vegetables
a condiment that most people never use or have ever heard of. Great for smoothies and soups.
Dulse flakes
Nori flakes
Other condiments you may not have heard of
chutney
coconut milk
almond milk
grated daikon radish
nutritional yeast to sprinkle on pasta and to make no cheese macaroni and cheese
sauerkraut
sprouts, sunflower, mung, clover, pea.
pickles
So what new condiment will you be picking up at the store that you never heard of???
Sunbutter made from sunflower seeds is a great way to get your kids hooked on a better protein than peanut butter and better for mom too.
