Speaking of change.. I change my black hair ... to Rhianna red... why? Lots of silly reasons... was it immature.. sure.. was it unpractical... Absolutly but I did it.. all the same... ( but this is me, right out of the shower,,, no make up.. no hair style.. just color..) so be kind...
Like it or not.. I am stuck with it for a month or so....... like I said... change ... what was is not and never will be again...
There is just a touch of chill in the air, and the trees are glowing with colors... I am looking forward to the harvest.......
We are ready for fall to come... "Listen! the wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves, We have had our summer evenings now for October eves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I am not rushing September out of here.. but October has always been my season.. and now I believe it is my son's season too.. I was wed in October.. I just feel alive in October.
I made a barley soup the other day.. this is just me.. getting the butternut squash and the mushrooms ready.
Roasted Chicken, Barley, and Butternut Squash Soup
Ingredients
2 Teaspoons canola oil
2 cups chopped peeled butternut squash
1 cup chopped onion
2 teaspoons jarred minced garlic
1 (8oz) package sliced fresh baby bella mushrooms
3 cups unsalted chicken stock
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon tomato paste, Amore
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup of uncooked quick-cooking barley, Quaker
3 cups shredded cooked chicken
Garnish.. fresh parsley.. chopped
1. In a heavy bottomed pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add Squash, onion, and garlic, cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes, or until lightly browned. Add mushrooms, and cook for 3 minutes, or until mushrooms begin to soften. Add stock, 2 cooks water, tomato paste, salt and pepper. bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in the barley and increase heat to medium-high , bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes, or until barley is tender. Stir in chicken, and simmer for 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley, and serve with breadsticks if desired. ( taste fine with rotisserie chicken )
Food and Fall are a downfall.. I love comfort food.. and fall brings them... Apple crisp...Apricot and Apple cobbler and so much more...

I have also planned to have a Mystery book club dinner.. To dine and discuss a mystery book... Does that sound fun... for a fall.. gathering.???????

My friends and I always go to the vineyards in october for wine tastings . its so beautiful..and I don't even like wine!
