Storm King Art Center was founded as a public non-profit museum in 1960. Early exhibitions included work by Winslow Homer...Alexander Calder, Sol LeWitt, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson and Isamu Noguchi....
I took all of the following pictures.... but there was so much more to see, and take pictures of, we were there 3 1/2 hours...The children did not get to tired.. but they have a tram.. some of the kids wanted to pose in front of sculptures.. but some of my friends daughters were not interested in all, or wore busy catching butterflies...
The landscape is very dramatic.. including farm fields, formal allees, natural woodlands, lawns, native grasses, wetlands and water.. The water was my sons favorite.. and Maybe mine...
this stonewall is one of my favorites.. and I am going to come back.. in the winter and get a winter shot.... and maybe the fall.
it was done by Andy Goldsworthy it's called the storm king wall and it was created 1997-98
My other favorite was a moving sculpture.. IT is in a you tube... post below.. It was done by George Cutts it is entitled Sea Change.. it was added in 1996 and it mesmerised me.. My son could care less, but I wanted to sit and watch it all day.. It was so tranquil... I was so entranced that I forgot to take a picture of it... But here is one I found.
You are suppose to imagine that you are swimming in the sea, with the motion of waves causing kelp to swap to and fro.
If you live in In CT, or NJ than you should make a trip here this summer or fall..
