Show us your life in favorite children's books

So I went to visit http://www.kellyskornerblog.com and I found another fun book blog hop.
This blog hop is right up my alley because it is for Children's books....
I could give someone 20 of my favorite children's books .... 20 of my favorite as a teacher and 20 as a mother.
I will give you a few and why right now....

   I have always loved this book because the girl want to buy her mom a lovely gift but she has no money so she asks a rabbit to help her and he suggests rubies and emeralds, and the girl kindly reminds him she has no money.. The together decided on a perfect gift for the girls mother. I read it every May to my students and now my son. Maurice Sendak did the watercolor like illustrations.

  Now this book is so different from my first choice, as it's illustrations are more cartoon and the main character is rude and fresh, but it's fun to teach a lesson about right from wrong and manners. I love the thanksgiving version, but there is a Rotten Ralph show and tell, wedding bells and many more.... The valentine one is quite funny too...in a fresh kind of way.

 This book is new to me I read it 2 years ago in my Kindergarten classroom and there are others in the series, the kids were glued to my ever word.... I love chapter book for this reason and usually don't start kids on this till older like 2nd or 3rd grade, but this class was ready ... My son is NOT ready. 5 or not he likes his pictures.

  This is one my husband taught me about and he has read parts to my son.. My son does enjoy when his Dad reads to him, as he rarely does it, so he sits sill for a few picturesless pages... This is the place where the movie  Dr. Doolittle (Eddie Murphy) came from, I think. The book is called The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting and he can talk to the animals and goes on many voyages and adventures healing and helping them.

  I love Audrey Wood and Don Wood you will remember they wrote the ever famous and adorable
The Napping House. They wrote many others but I just love how this grown man ( the king) refuses to get out of the bathtub and the things he requested be brought into the bathtub to "use and play with" are so funny for a child to think about and imagine, I did a entire unit in my class on baths and they loved this book. Especially the man (king) finally getting out at the last page. The cover does not do the book justice and if you have not heard about Audrey and Don wood go to amazon and check them out. 




 my list could go on and on and on maybe I will post my top 50 to my blog someday... Or my list of visuallly appealling A-Z picture books that I collect.
