A few weekends ago I rented the movie "It's Complicated" with many stars including Meryl Strep and Alec Baldwin... In the movie Meryl is a baker who creates many a delicious dish.... But she mentions Lavender honey ice cream, I am intrigued by this as we grow lavender and we have an ice cream maker.. I made a deal with myself to make this sweet treat this summer.
But while I was garage sale shopping today with my son and husband we found a cafe in Cornwall,NY called WOODY's. I ordered a goat cheese hamburger sooooo Delicious and a lavender ice cream scoop.
I was so looking forward to this.. My ice cream is usually Edys or something on sale. The ice cream they feature there is Jane's ice cream from Kingston, NY.My husband wrecked the fantasy by ranting and raving about the $ 2.25 scoop of ice cream.. Hey we rarely go out to dinner maybe once every 5 month if that, we get take out once a month and we NEVER go out to lunch... so why was he complaining ?????
14 oz Milk
3 oz Lavender leaves and flowers
2 oz Crystallized ginger, chopped
1 c Sugar
3 Egg yolks
2 c Heavy whipping cream, cold
Lavender flowers for garnish
In a saucepan, slowly heat milk to approximately 200 F. Remove from fire and add lavender. Allow to steep for 15 minutes. Strain milk through cheesecloth while warm. Add crystallized ginger and sugar to milk. Place egg yolks into a small bowl; then put half the mixture from saucepan into the bowl to blend. Stir mixture with a spoon and pour back into the saucepan. Place over low heat and cook until mixture is approximately 200 F. Add 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream and place into fridge until well chilled. Process in any ice cream machine. During the last few minutes of ice cream processing, sprinkle in individual lavender flowers stripped from lower heads.
Makes 1 quart.
Here is a recipe I found on line, and it had a smooth taste and a bit citrus... I really enjoyed it and if you make any yourself please let me know I would love to hear about it.

Never thought flowers would taste good in an ice cream.
And once every five months? Tell your husband to take you out more often!
Intriguing, I just received some lavender, was going to use it in a photo, that you mentioned! I love your insightful post! I know
I wanted a liquid brownie on my b-day nope, didn't get it! It is a
sugar free coffee frappe, my fav.
My husband didn't want one, so he didn't stop....augh!!! We went out for Mexican food. I wanted to wait and go with the kids, he took me at
lunch time. I am taking my kids out for sushi, last week in May, when he goes on his fishing trip and movies, too. We were suppose to do that on my daughter's b-day, but he didn't want to go. What the heck?! MEN...
HI! I got your comment on my blog about possibly exchanging some books - like the Yada Yada series ... I'm very sorry but I do like to re-read my books again and right now most of them are lent out to my friends. Thanks for stopping by to say hi though! Cute blog! =)

I am totally intrigued...I have heard of it, but never tried it. I want to try avocado ice cream too.
