Welcome followers from Fifteen Fantasy island favorites... My friend Arlee has come up with another great idea with one of his friends for a blog challenge blog hop where you show the album covers to 15 of your favorite albums that may have changed you .... So here are mine in order of my life..... thanks Arlee for the great idea, I love a good challenge.(www.tossingitout.blogspot.com)

The first album I ever saw was My Fair Lady,,, but my grandmother who I lived with from 2-3rd grade and then again from 5th-10th grade did not have a record player so she sang me the songs for a few years until we finally got a record player. The album I first saw was...

My Grandmother would say The Rain in Spain stays mainly on the Plane. My grandmother also had Camelot and Carousel.. and I remember some of those songs...

The first album I ever heard in my life was my mother's Donna Summer album I was in 3rd grade. I had lived with my grandmother before this. My mother played these songs a few a bit risque over and over again....Then she would play another album from Elton John and she would play Benny and the Jets over and over again.. Later in life a stray dog entered her life and she named him Benny from this song.
I lived with my mother from 3-5 grade and during this time she played a lot of music another I remember her playing was.... The police she would sing to Roxanne..... from the album Outlandos but I could not find that cover on google....Now it turns to 5th grade or so and I am back at my grandmothers... She has a record player now and she plays me a Bill Cosby album and she laughs her funny loud laugh and I get such a love for Bill Cosby's humor and her laugh, that I make her play it again and again.....

This album had a few really funny skits on it... Driving in San Francisco and the Kindergarten skit, with the politically incorrect Idiot mittens and straws as long as horses legs to drink luke warm milk that was on the radiator and dry graham crackers...Maybe on this album was his more famous my dad gives me chocolate cake... skit that I loved as a 5th or 6th grader....
This was the first album I purchased with my own money... It was me in my bedroom ( I had a 1/2 sister and brother, but they lived with my dad) and so I would dance around my canopy bed to all the songs on this album.  He was a great singer, dancer and entertainer....
The next album I purchased was Pat Benatar  Crimes of Passion
I was very interested in Choreography at this time and was always making up routines and dancing to them or teaching my friends to dance to them... everyone said I was so good I should try out for cheer leading or color guard.. SO I did and guess what, My learning disability and my motor planning issues made me not be able to remember any steps in order... So I did not make either team.. It was very upsetting and one of the first hurtles in my life in the disability card...
I was strangely enough very into Men at Work an Australian band and I purchased this obscure album next.
Some where not sure where I heard St. Peppers Lonely hearts club band and then saw the movie and I fell in love with a number of songs... I loved peter Frampton for a short  while.. His voice not his body---
The last album I remember buying in junior high was Pink Floyd the wall- I was invited by my friends and my boyfriends to go to a pink Floyd concert but because my family felt there would be a lot of drugs there.. I was not allowed... incidental my first concert was Twisted Sister with Dee Snyder no drugs that I saw but what a crazy loud hair band...
Then I really got out of the record scene and it was cassette time and I had a lot of music like the scorpions rock me like a hurricane, and dance music...
The next album I purchased was in college.. Natalie Merchant Tiger lily a few girls in my dorm, Audra, Joanna and Carla got me hooked on it.... it was so nice and really one of the only women I had really listened to and really felt the lyrics...
After this college was over, yes I listened to Pearl jam in college and I loved Rob Base _ IT takes two to make a thing go right... still love it...but I was good friends with a very in touch with your women side friend and she got me hooked on Ani Difranco and Tori Amos. I enjoyed most of Tori Amos's songs more than Ani but after my friend purchased me tickets to see Tori in concert in my hometown, I was sold.. Watching her play the piano was terrific...
This album cover was controversial but I loved this album and little earthquakes. I think she had a profound effect on her listeners because she had been raped and a few songs were about this. Silent all these years and me with a gun. I was raped and I had not told anyone and these songs helped me. Although I am not very violent. I purchased lots of cassette tapes from the 80's till cd's were introduced...
I was engaged to a man before my husband and we listened to a lot of
Audio Slave and I think the group was Snap.. I can't remember he was a great man but he was a closet alcholic and that time period flew by as I stayed with him 8 years.... Maybe 8 years too long... but after my father died, I left him and met my husband...
When my father died.. I learned something funny about him.. growing up he listened to all kinds of music and he had an auto body business and rock n roll played inside the shop, but he listened to easy listening in the car and my brother who liked heavy metal and rap a lot of his life..(preppy kid listening to this was a bit unusual)
we were like turn this off.. He said I am driving and this is what I want to listen to... I don't associate any music with my father and that is weird.. I would love to ask my sister and brother what song they remember him singing etc.. My father died at 52 suddenly and in his car after his death they found 2 cd's
EMINEM which still shocks me.... and The Dave Brubeck Orchestra.. ( which I had never heard..) you can bet I went out and got it right after... though
My boyfriend then, became my husband and while we were dating....
He took me to see Sarah Brightman in concert and I had been introduced to her by a fireman that I had dated in between my fiancee and meeting my new boyfriend.. turned husband.. The concert was amazing and I remember thinking I have seen this women before.. I had seen her years earlier in Phantom in the Opera when the people I was an Au pair for had given me 2 tickets to see Phantom for my birthday it was a great gift. and I remembered how her voice touched me. I loved her as Christine Daae... Sarah Brightman is a singer, lyricist and a dancer. Her vocal range is of 3-octave that extends to an F above Soprano C.

We were married a year or so later and one of her songs were played at our wedding.

Then I did not buy another album again.. as Cd's became in fashion by the time I did purchase this cd for me to sing with my son, as I have mentioned before I was not a great singer. The cover was done by Anne Geddes she is not a singer but a photograph who would photograph babies as flowers or in flowers....
the last music I have listened to in the last few years raising my son has been few.. I like John Mayer and I love Norah Jones.. but I have no Cd player in my old car and little time to listen to music,... My ipod is ancient and so... I only listen to music once in awhile in the shower... My favorite Cd now is...
sorry to disappoint but I love the songs on this album.. Muse and much more... I loved many groups over the years... Prince, Billy Joel and now Lady Gaga etc.. but maybe they did not make as big an impact on me as the ones mentioned.

Incidentally my husband could win at name that tune from the 70's and 80's he is amazing he only needs a few seconds.. and he knows the song.. but his office walls are covered with albums he purchased growing up and did not have the heart to throw out..

I know most of those bands.

I have a few record covers on my wall as well. Plus a bookcase full in the closet. Can't throw them out!

This is a great list! There are a lot of my 80's favorites in this entry... nice to see someone else loving that music too!

Thanks for posting in the blogfest! I always have so much fun reading everybody else's entries.

Excellent list! What's really weird is even though I own several of these albums myself, it was the Bill Cosby offering that really touched me. I remember my family all sitting around laughing to Why is There Air when I was a kid. Brought back some lovely memories.

This is a nice compilation! It really took me back to "the day". Haha. You and I must be about the same age, I'm guessing. :)

Bill Cosby's 'Driving In San Francisco':

"Come around, idiot! Come around!"

Ha!-Ha! Yeah, I grew up listening to a Cosby record (which I now own on CD), and he STILL makes me laugh!
