Iching

So it's time for letter I... and I am choosing to introduce you to I Ching... It is a ancient treasure. The Chinese have used the I ching to explore the meaning of human affairs for thousands of years. Many use the I ching as a source of insight and wisdom... I first learned of it in a class at the Omega Instutitue in Rhinbeck, NY. eomega.org

they have workshops, training, retreats and conferences.

I just got the Spring catalog.. of events.. and some of the courses are:
The costs of War, Violence and Denial
Jivamukti Yoga Training
The Shaman's way of Healing
Painting the light within (watercolor self-expression)
Living as a River- finding fearlessness in the face of change

There are many more.. so if those inspired you.. go to the above link....Now back to the Iching..

The I-ching ( literally translated and used herein as the book of Change)

early legends site that the trigrams were discovered by a farmer on the shell of a turtle, and that in seeing them, he suddenly could predict things.....

Chinese Emperors would have the classic reading form of three coins tossed daily, and then hear reports from around the kingdom, detailing what had happened.
The I-ching is based on simple energetic principals, and the dynamics between yin and yang. When fully understood, these dynamics reveal everything about our experiences in time, how they change, and what they mean.

Historically, The book of Change ( Iching) was most widely used as a farming, fishing and hunting almanac. You drop 3 coins on a flat surface six times or randomly dividing 50 small sticks of wood is a way of stopping the world, or time. Think of it as clicking the shutter of a camera in order to capture a picture or moment... and examine in detail its meaning. The ritual of stopping time ( or change if you will) with a particular question in mind is a way of aligning your self and your circumstances within the background of all that is unfolding in the universe.

So if you have the book.. first you need to make an Inquiry
Wording your inquiry and writing it down is a necessary part of the process of divination. It will settle your mind into the proper frame of receptivity and , at the same time, it is an effective form of self-therapy.

I am sure there are many sceptics of I-ching, Feng shui, Ouija and zodiac...
I have read many of the arguments for the validity... of I-ching.... and I still believe in it.... Many say Tarot card reading is bad.. and I have never done that... but I find I-ching.. to be harmless...

I asked it a question today.. and funny the page it opened to... was called Innocence.....

My inquiry: was asking if I should ... cheat on my husband... to get him back.. or move on......

I threw my coins and they landed on... the fourth line which said: Do not be influenced by the design of those around you. IT is very important, at this time, that you trust your inner vision. Obey your instincts.
Lots of I words.....

This is what it said under INNOCENCE

" The time demands an alignment with the flow of the cosmos. THis adjustment must be made before further action is taken, otherwise you will begin to make mistakes. When actions that seem perfectly reasonable and cleverly planned are executed, they will end in difficulty and confusion. IN order to harmonize your actions with the cosmos, it will be necessary to adopt an attitude of INNOCENCE. Examine your motives. THey will be the cause of your problems. This is a time for acting without conscious purpose, without ulterior motives and with complete rectitude. Do not aspire to be rewarded for your actions, nor direct them cunningly toward personal advancement. Act innocently and react spontaneously.
Your instincts should be developed and modified in the direction of natural goodness. Your first inclination should be to preserve your well-being, clear the way for your fellow man, and take note of worthwhile information. Without integrity and morality in your character you could not trust  your instincts, for they might lead you into dangerous situations.
The path to your goal is now an idirect path. You must rely on your principles and inner virtue rather than cleaver strategies. This will not lead you away from success-on the contrary, INNOCENCE with spontaneity will bring creativity to many areas of you life. You will appear to your milieu inspired and brilliant. This will give you great influence. If you are a teacher, leader, or head of a family, use the insight and inspirations that will occur during a time of INNOCENCE to fulfill the needs of those who rely upon you. Do this without thought of compensation or hope of a possible gain in stature.
It is important to keep in mind that laws, of the cosmos are divine and do not necessarily follow the desires of man. Therefore, when acting in INNOCENCE, you will also experience the unexpected, the exceptional, the unpredictable. Be prepared for a surprising turn of events. What occurs will stimulate new ideas, even if at first this seems unnerving or full of complications.
A state of INNOCENCE could be refreshing interlude in your personal relationships. Spontaneity can bring great pleasure as well as reveal true feelings and motives, whereas intrigue at this time would only yield perplexity and possibly disaster. Again, INNOCENCE may lead to surprising new areas of unexplored mutual interest.
For those who are puzzled or at a standstill in regard to a particular issue, a spontaneous method of action could lead to a highly creative and original solution. Act without guile and do not attack the problem directly."

Can you believe all the" I" words in this...... I found that to be intriguing...

So what do you think the I-chings answer was to me... about having an affair.....?????
It was just a thought I had.... ??? what do you think the Iching.. wants' me to do????

Oh very cool! I don't find ANY of these things good or bad, but I do favor the eastern idea that what you are tapping is ENERGY--certainly more plausible in my opinion than reaching any divine source. Energy is all around us, each of us playing our role. And I think that state of innocence, examining your motives first an letting go--VERY good way to make the right decision. I think it helps you get over yourself Tarot and Ouiji and zodiac... I tend to enjoy all of them as fun explainers, but don't change my actions based on them. I have never known anyone who did I ching before, though.

what an intriguing, interesting and informative post! I've heard about i-ching before, but never actually read more into it. glad to have found your blog through the a-z, and am very curious about what the iching's response was to your question.
