Snow day

I remember snow days in elementary school. I lived on 18 acres then with my grandmother and my 2 standard black poodles. I would get all dressed up and go out and explore with my dogs, I loved it. One time a deer feel threw the lining of our in ground pool and we had to call some people to help pull it out, the poor thing was alive after 30 minutes of thrashing, ironically my beloved family dog MUCHADO about nothing fell in years later and no one was home and when we returned home she was so exhausted the vets said she had a stroke and she was never the same again.
 Anyway, the reason for today's blog is I miss the childhood snow days.  I love playing with my son don't get me wrong and today we painted snow with spray bottles, we always do something new but his version of doing NOTHING and my version of doing nothing are 2 different things. I know he will grow up in the blink of an eye and then I will be lonely and wish for his pitter patter of feet, but for one SNOW DAY i would like to have no responsibilities like when I was young. I did not have to feed the dog, or do any chores on snow days. I did not have to get up early and I could nap on snow days. I could eat a bit of junk food and my grandmother would call the plow and we would not even have to shovel, later when I was in junior high we did the shoveling of the sidewalks etc..
 Life has become this quick fast moving event every day seems monumental- Places to be, appt's not to miss, people to email, letters to write, bills to pay. Things to fix or make around the house, plan menus, go grocery shopping, although, I have heard some of the grocery stores will shop for you, you of course pay an extra  few and then give them a list, pick it up at the door or they deliver it, my old co-worker used it when her son was sick with MONO and My mother in law used it around the holidays with bad weather. I could use this service as a birthday gift for a one time pass. Along with a pass for not shoveling the driveway. My step son 17 was the back deck and sidewalk shoveler but he has moved to his mothers after living with my husband and myself for 5 years since I have lived here and longer with his dad. I miss him. I joke with him I also miss him because he doesn't have to shovel on snow days I do. My husband snow blows and I shovel, Aiden likes to try to push the push shovel so we go out together, but once again it's a big ordeal to get our snowpants on, pants, long underwear and jackets and hats and mittens.
  I just believe if you are a teacher or a mother and you get a snow day take it, and really try not to let your spouse or child interupt the snow day - try to do something for yourself even if it is nothing. I know if you are a busy father or man you have little time to relax unless your watching TV or a game and if your a mother well, enough said, I bet even Sundays you have little time to do anything.
  I just wish and hope my son has fond memories of childhood and snow days. I know some people who thinks snow days are for the weak but I think they are just a time to recharge.
