clean eating

I have used this phrase before? Most people say," What is clean eating?" Well, I can tell you what I believe it means to me. It is something that is not exactly easy but not hard either.  It is not a diet, it is a lifestyle.  It is however, full time, right now I am working part time on it, and will see more benefits when I am back on full time.  It means trying not to eat anything that is processed or has more than one or two ingredients on the label. That is tough in todays world.  The backbone of clean eating depends on the food groups, eaten at regular intervals over the course of the day.  This means thumbs down to kraft, and many other big food companies. 
It means an eating plan not a restrictive diet.   I will talk about some of the books and magazines I get support from in a few minutes. First let's address people who can't eat gluten-
  Life for those with a gluten allergy can be very difficult. Gluten can be found in so much of what we eat. Gluten is in bleu cheese and soy - which many would not expect.
  Gluten free grains are: corn, flax, millet, nuts, poi, buckwheat and arrowroot and
Polenta (one of my favorites)- just to name a few.
  So how can you clean eat?
 Eat 5 or 6 small meals every day
Eat every 2-3 hours ( more on what to eat later)
combine lean protein and complex carbs at every meal
consume adequate healthy fats each day.
Drink at least 2 liters of water each day.
never miss a meal, especially breakfast
avoid over-proceesed, refined and white flour and sugar ( this is difficult- but i have recipes that make it easier)
Avoid chemicals,preservatives and artificial sugar
Avoid sugar juices and colas
avoid alcohol- another form of sugar
depend on fresh fruits, vegetables
watch portion sizes

I know your saying , Yes, I have heard all this before but if you pack your cooler nightly and stick to your menus for your family and your children it works.

Wait, You don't eat meat...
Fortunately, there are many protein alternatives to fit with the clean eating lifestyle.  soy beans * legumes* nuts and seeds*grains especially steel cut oatmeal and quinoa* bee pollen and royal jelly* goat's milk and hemp products.
bee pollen is not that easy to find and royal jelly is expensive but the benefits are amazing
