Yoga

So I am almost finished with the A-Z challenge .. boo hoo.. but today is letter Y...

 Y for YOGA

Back in the day, parents would try to keep  their kids away from the TV and ask them to play in the park. In this generation, we try to hide the iPads, block downloadable apps and ask them to do some yoga.

Yoga engages a child's imagination and playfulness. It boosts confidence and self-esteem. The poses keep the bones healthy and the muscles active. It also teaches balance, focus and relaxation.

My camera broke....and I am crushed... I have an old.. one..but for some reason.. everything I do.. it's still blurry... so here is my son doing Yoga to a great video.... called playground yoga... but I am sorry it is so blurry.
He loved the names of all the poses....
oops... did not turn this one...

The following books.. my son loved .. as they showed the names of the poses..and then how to do them... This book is from the library but my son has asked me to buy it for him..He loved Dog pose... (downward dog) and he loved..the bridge pose... and Lion pose.. he loved... to make the sound.. even though yoga is usually silent.

My son found this book himself in the library... it's called Little yoga.. and it's like Yoga for toddlers.. but he loved looking at the pictures and telling me the names of the poses...

I have gotten much relaxation.. and better balance.. from Yoga myself.. that it was only nature to show my son... I would really like to teach it in a fun way.. I once worked at a school that had Yoga... and I found the kids got very bored... and did not say the names or know many of the names of the poses...but I found a video... that makes it so fun... it's called Pizza party.. and it's like rolling out the dough... sprinkle the cheese.. all doing stretching.. and the children.. don't realize the work... they just have fun.... making the "pizza" the funniest part is when they stretch their foot to their mouth area.. and talk into the foot.. as if it's a phone.. (great stretch) and say.... Hi... please come to my pizza Party.

Yoga, adapted for pre-school children, develops body awareness, language, good listening skills, cooperation and powers of observation.  It teaches pre-school children about nature, their environment and inspires their imaginations. It prepares them for breathing techniques used in yoga.  They learn by playing, singing, moving and imitating.   This is an ideal time for children to begin a yoga practice.

wow they are so flexible....
If I had a place.. I would begin doing Yoga birthday parties... I think it would be a big hit...
Something new... and healthy...

I searched this idea on google.. and guess what I found.. ( can you believe the price)

I found some of the themes to be commercial.. but some to be very creative...
I plan to get my teacher training certificate.. and Learn partner yoga and yoga games...

Gee, I have to get into a children's b'day party business. That's how Kate Middleton's parents made their money!
