sitsday

So today is an exciting day for me... besides the fact that my son is back to school after being off for 10 days.. and I have had to entertain him as he is an only child.. who is still not great at playing alone, Today is my SITS day... so if your unfamiliar with that... it means that the great women over at www.thesitsgirls.com
have chosen to showcase my blog today... It is a great group that is committed to supporting women bloggers.. by commenting... the word S.I.T.S. stands for  S=secret I=is T=the S+support

The secret to success is a support group of more than 8,000 women bloggers dedicated to supporting one another by leaving lots and lots of comments... besides they do kick ASS boot camps about blogging.. that I am just dying to go to one... year....

by the way.... Excuse the early morning cleavage shot.. I have few pictures of just me.. and these were done..as a gift for my husband.. a few years ago.

We are all "sistahs". So in honor of my SITS day.. I decided to do a little vlogging... for the first time.. went out before Easter and purchased a webcam... So I hope to do more vlogging... as time goes on. It did not go as easy.. as I had hopped.. and uploading it proved.. to be difficult too... but I did get a little on here... so please watch it.

So I want to welcome all the new SISTAHS or any brothers... what ever the case may be.... today... and say hello to my followers.. I am doing a April challenge called the A-Z challenge and tomorrow we will pick up on letter S, and T... since I am a bit behind.

The women at SITS have asked me to answer a few questions:
1.) Your blog title is very different, what inspired it?
2.) What can readers expect to find when visiting your site for the first time?
3.) Is there any topic that is off limits for you as a writer?
4.) Other than blogging, what is something you're passionate about?
5.) If you could share a piece of advice with a new blogger, what would it be?

1.) The way I got the title to my blog is bittersweet...
My dad had passed away suddenly in North Carolina.. and I went down to be with my step-mother and my siblings and I all went out to dinner the night before my father's memorial...and I had sushi a few times before that... I really wanted to try more.. so that night I ordered 12 different kinds.. I was so excited to try them.. and maybe the food... would numb.. my loss.. but it turned out that I thought I was ordering 12 pieces.. but what I got (see picture above) was 12 rolls.. each with...7 pieces each.. SO We are talking about...84 pieces of sushi... I am not kidding...
My family..looked at me like I was CRAZY..I felt so silly...... they helped me eat some of it.. but there was so much.. that we had to waste a little. They said.. so sushi women... you won't make that mistake again, will you.. 2 or 3 years later.. when I was thinking of a title for my blog.. this memory came to mind.. I thought I was a mom now.. so sushi women.. wasn't good enough but 1 Wasabi mommy sounded ..good.. so it stuck.

watch 1 Wasabi mommy here******

sushi in the sky with diamonds... I just loved the rhyming sound of it.. and then I couldn't resist putting diamonds.... on my sushi plate one night.....

2. What can people expected to find at my blog...

I think people can find.. .new information, recipes, books for children and educational games, at my blog. I also... do fun scavenger hunts with photographs I take....I like to think I give other mom's hope... that are frustrated or worried about their special needs, child. I think I offer an escape... with a morning cup of coffee, before some people start their day. I do have some very thought provoking posts... too...

3. Any topics off limit to me and or my blog?
I have been a pre-k teacher for many many years and so I censor myself everywhere I am.. and now with a 5 year old, I am always trying to be appropriate... but I have come out of my censor shell... in the blogging world... I feel like almost anything goes... I try to stay away from politics, and I do touch upon my religion... or lack of it.. and how I am trying to find my way back.. one psalm at a time.. but I also... talk about sex... and disappointments... so I almost feel I talk about it all. I had my husband cheat on me last year and the blog really helped me have an outlet... and  and audience for support and comfort. I have a few followers that have been a great cheering section for me.

 4. What other things am I passionate about besides blogging?
I am very passionate about too many things... I have ADHD.. and so does my son... SO I am afraid.. I like so much.. my mind wanders... here and there.... I have been doing a lot of photography and my camera just broke 2 weeks ago.. so it has been very sad, not to be able to take pictures with Spring in full bloom..... I loved Webkinz ( Internet plush toys with a world to play online) when they first came out.. and found myself using them in my classroom.. but playing at night too...
I loved facebooktablescapes.. but my real passion really is children and having them be accepted  in life...( by peers, teachers and family)
I want children of any race .... to be loved and told they are special.. I want special need children to feel good at something.. and to not feel so different... I want them to feel joy... I have had to embrace the pain.. and happiness.. of having a child with  special needs.. my son has ADHD and Neurofibromatosis.. ( NF1)
Neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1): also known as von Recklinghausen NF or Peripheral NF. Occurring in 1:3,000 births, web characterized by multiple cafe-au-lait spots and neurofibromas on or under the skin. Enlargement and deformation of bones and curvature of the spine (scoliosis) may also occur. Occasionally, tumors may develop in the brain, on cranial nerves, or on the spinal cord. About 50% of people with NF also have learning disabilities.

NF has been classified into three distinct types; NF1, NF2 and Schwannomatosis. They are caused by different genes, located on different chromosomes.
NF1 is the most common neurological disorder caused by a single gene; occuring in one in every 3,000 children born.

The Neurofibromatoses are genetically-determined disorders which affect more than 100,000 Americans; this makes NF more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington's Disease combined.
All forms of NF are autosomal dominant genetic disorders which can be inherited from a parent who has NF or may be the result of a new or "spontaneous mutation" (change) in the sperm or egg cell.
Each child of an affected parent has a 50% chance of inheriting the gene and developing NF. The type of NF inherited by the child is always the same as that of the affected parent, although the severity of the manifestations may differ from person to person within a family.
NF is worldwide in distribution and affects both sexes equally and has no particular racial, geographic or ethnic distribution. Therefore, NF can appear in any family.
Although most cases of NF1 are mild to moderate, NF1 can lead to disfigurement; blindness; skeletal abnormalities; dermal, brain and spinal tumors; loss of limbs; malignancies; and learning disabilities.
NF1 also has a connection to developmental problems, especially learning disabilities, which are five times more common in the NF1 population than in the general population.
The distinguishing feature of NF2 is tumors that grow on the eighth cranial nerve in both ears, commonly causing deafness and severe balance problems.
NF2 brings on increased risk of other types of nervous system tumors as well.

Accordingly, NF research may benefit an additional 100 million Americans (i.e. 65 million with cancer and 35 million with learning disabilities).
NF is not the "Elephant Man's Disease," although it was at one time believed to be. Scientists now believe that John Merrick, the so-called "Elephant Man," had Proteus Syndrome, an entirely different disorder.
NF research began eighteen years ago by the Children's Tumor Foundation, has been enormously productive ever since.

I have had many heartaches... but I look for the victories...too...

5. Any advice you have for new bloggers?
The advice I would give any blogger male or female is to... be yourself.. have your own voice... find a niche... and post with FREQUENCY... COMMENT ON OTHER BLOGS..... POST GOOD CONTENT...... I try to use blogging as a way to be more myself, have fun with it.. and meeting and connecting with new people... and I feel I am true to my readers...
I hope to meet some new followers, friends... and frequent commenter's... along this journey... thanks for stopping by.. and giving me a bit of your time....
